Regards APG Images Admin Team

Website Upgrade

We are nearing the completion of our upgrade with only a few features left to be updated. These include a new main menu bar and the addition of a bit more colour to the page with boxes for the category drop down and search bar to be completed. We also have to complete the configuration of the rights management feature.

There have been many updates to the website many of these are obvious whilst some work in the background to enhance the users experience. There are too many to list however we feel it is relevant to discuss a few of the more important ones.

The most obvious of these is the flash gallery on the front page. This displays a selection of selected images which will change reguarily. Eventually we intend all images displayed in this gallery to link directly to the images page on the website.

The next most prominent addition is flash on the site. You will notice that all thumbnail and larger images and displayed utilizing flash effects. This makes the experience more visual but may be turned off in the left menu area if required. We have also added a flash category thumbnail scroller this displays up to 50 images from the particular gategory you are viewing. We have limited the scroller to 50 images at this stage to minimize any lag that may occur whilst trying to load large numbers of thumbnails. The scroller is located at the botton of the image large view but is only visible whilst viewing a category.

One of thee most impressive additions to the website is the Photowall. This feature is available when viewing images within a category and accessed by pressing the grey photowall button. Photowall is a 3d image viewer allowing navigation of the images with the mouse and selected buttons. Full instructions reside at the bottom of the photowall pop-up window. This feature is a must view.

For our photographers we have updated the management console. You now have the ability to batch upload images and perform batch imports into a category. This should make the process of place images onto the site alot more efficient. Photographers will also have the ability to rights manage all their images this feature is installed and currently only awating final testing before been activated.

In the not too distant future we plan to add a greeting card facility enabling all images to be purchased as a greeting cards in various formats.
